1. Gym with trainer
2. There is this guy that goes there, and has broken his arm recently. With cast, he was still pounding out dumbbells with the other arm. Curls, and hammer curls. Now that's dedication. Great bis! Great body! Hunky in a rugged way (except for the bad teeth). I think he has pierced nipples too (yum). I have a light crush on this one.
3. After gym, I checked out a studio with my trainer. He is moving.
4. Then helped him obtain his credit score (he has no computer)
5. He treated me to lunch. Very good Vietnamese food
6. Napped :)
7. Lazy Saturday

Jul. 19th, 2008 @ 05:08 pm The Wedding: Could it really be this easy??
Current Mood: giddy
Tags:
Two days, two major pieces of the puzzle found: venue and jewelry designer.

The venue was only the second place we looked at, and the jeweler only the third. In both instances, the venue/vendor just felt right to us and since Tom and I are both big believers in going with our gut, we jumped on them immediately and instinctively.

We’ve chosen 1 Fort Mason, “San Francisco’s Hidden Treasure,” to host the event. It’s a pretty old Italianate Victorian mansion located on a cliff on the eastern edge of upper Fort Mason. The three banquet rooms, all in the back of the building, have large (mostly floor-to-ceiling) windows overlooking an expansive lawn where the ceremony will take place.  The spot is quite beautiful and very peaceful, with towering old Eucalyptus trees surrounding the property and spectacular views of Aquatic Park and Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the East Bay. [picking jaw back up off the floor]

And the building is dripping with history: originally built in 1865, it was the residence of the Commanding General of the Western Armies for 75 years, hosting such visitors as Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and Rutherford B. Hayes. In the 1940s, it became an Officers’ Club, closing its doors in 2003, only to be reopened shortly thereafter as a venue for events and meetings.

We can’t officially book the space until 1 year out from our date, but we’ve put in a hold form and are told that they’ve had no requests at all for October 2009, so we should get our first choice no problem.

As for our rings, we don’t yet have a confirmed design or even a firm idea of what we want them to look like, but we know who we want to work with: David Clay Jewelers on Union Street. In short, they’re awesome.

We stopped in earlier today, mostly just to do more investigation of what’s out there, what our options are, and how much we should expect to spend. We wound up spending at least an hour there, learning about metals and techniques and styles from this cute, young (probably straight) designer and sales person named Chris, whose knowledge was impressive and whose enthusiasm was infectious. Palladium, Titanium, Tungsten Carbide, Damascus Steel… who knew there were so many metals to choose from??

In the span of 24 hours, I went from stressed at the mere thought of all the work we had ahead of us to giddy and giggly and ready for more. I don’t want to say anything, but this wedding planning thing is easy.

Ha.

What was the first music album you ever bought or owned? Do you still listen to it or have you moved on?

My ex let me know that despite bouncing back a few months ago, he finally had to have my dog put to sleep last night. She had cancer that had metastasized into other organs and she was spewing blood from both ends. She's in a better place. I thanked him for taking such good care of her.

I'm sad and feel a little helpless that I wasn't there for her, but she was in good hands. Someday I'll get a dog and her middle name will be Jodi.

For today, I'm going to go ride roller coasters. I've gotten a barrage of bad news lately and have read that other people have as well. It's got to stop eventually.

Jul. 19th, 2008 @ 12:31 am My Friday...Well, My birthday Friday
Current Mood: happy
Well, it ended just as quickly as it got here.  And thanks for all the well wishes...and all the unexpected well wishes.  One person made me cry last night when I opened an email and it was a surprise birthday gift.  But it was a good cry.  It really does help to cry and let it all out.

This weekend started out differently than I originally thought.  Every Pride, I head out to Top of the Park...but I couldn't connect with anyone so didn't plan for it.  On my way home from work, I decided...what the fuck...let's do it.  So I drove right straight there.  Luckily I was able to make my way up fairly quickly!  It was a great time hanging with friends.  Sean from NC had just moved here and it was great to see him again.  I ended up hanging out mostly with a friend of some of my buds that I had met at the Hole some time back.  I must say that he totally made my birthday!!!

Afterwards, I headed over to Alex's for his BBQ.  As always, he served up a smorgasbord of food for us all to enjoy.

Tomorrow is the first day of the festival and parade day.  It's an early morning Bear party...I can't wait!  I need some rest.  Hugs!

Jul. 19th, 2008 @ 12:00 am Empty a Leg

v. Expression used by rough older British blokes to describe taking a really big piss when they've not been to the bathroom for a while.

"Dave - hold on a second. If I don't Empty a Leg right now I'm gonna piss myself!".
"No worries, mate."

Jul. 18th, 2008 @ 08:00 pm hey kids
First off, thank you to everyone for the loving support, messages, emails and text messages!!!

My mom should be here shortly. Sigh...
We stress each other out. This should be interesting.

I have damage to the left ventrical.
Tomorrow afternoon they will do a cardiac catheter, up from the groin to the heart. See what sort if blockage there is.
They were going to make me wait till Monday. I threw a huge fit. Huge.
Then figure out how to deal with it. Scrape, shunt, or by-pass surgery.
I want the scraping, cause then I can go home Much sooner.

Shan of course has been wonderful. But hard on her too.

Ugh, throat clearer from last night is awake again after his surgery. Grrtr

I'm bored, but Kev and Stephen came for a visit. Love you guys.
I so doubt I can go to Lazybear. I'm very upset by this. The ONE thing I've had to look forward to
Since brain surgery and it's shot to hell!!!

Wish me luck on getting the fuck out if here very soon!!!

Got my phone for email and text. But with my mom around, too much going on for visitors.

Yay me, brain tumor and heart attack in 6 months at the old age of 39!!!

Jul. 18th, 2008 @ 07:38 pm As Mark Twain once said
"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"

It *is* cold out there. Foggy all day. I miss the warm Redwood City days (only 20 miles south). I had the heat on last night :(

FYI. Mark Twain never said it. http://www.snopes.com/quotes/twain.asp

HILARIOUS piece from The New Yorker: Fourteen Passive-Aggressive Appetizers

3. Steal Cheryl’s famous potato-salad recipe. When Cheryl asks, “Why did you steal my recipe?,” say, “I don’t know, Cheryl, why did you break my heart?” Then laugh so she knows you’re just kidding.
